Hans Pluhar’s Violin Making Workshop is located in the vicinity of the University Mozarteum Salzburg.

Having played the violin since the early 1980´s Hans divides his attention between instruments and bows alike. Choosing a bow can be quite a complex task: It  depends on compatability between instrument and bow and players preferences. Finding a perfect match is one of his many passions in this rich profession.

Being a violin maker for almost 30 years has given him a deep understanding and great appreciation of the excellence of the bow makers craft. Working together with the best modern bow makers and discussing playing and sound qualities with musicians is a joy.

Celebrating the 20 year anniversary of Pluhar Violins, in 2020 a new initiative has been launched to represent the best modern bow makers and have their work available for sale.

The workshop performs bow rehairs and accepts in collaboration with specialist bow makers all common repairs such as head tip replacements, screws and adjusters and damages on frog and sticks.

After each rehair the player has the opportunity to try out their bow with their own rosin to ensure their expectations are met.

Insurance for bows can be arranged.

Practising patience has become my motto.

Honing my craft, understanding musicians and excelling in business requires time.

Building on strengths and embracing challenges is part of this personal process.

Possessing patience is a powerful tool and enables quality through calmness.

Hans Pluhar offers musicians a space to wind down and discuss music and instrument related issues in a relaxed atmosphere.

His wife Gül Ersoy Pluhar, a violist with extensive experience in the chamber- and symphony orchestral music world, not only brings in international connections but also adds practical advice in sound related matters.

New bows can be compared here with each other and favourites can be taken out for a one-week-trial period.

The presentation room offers an opportunity to use the workshop as a small performing venue. Concerts with a modest number of audience can be held to prepare auditions, exams or concert performances.

A well tuned piano is at your disposal.
